What the Decline Codes Mean
If your payment keeps failing, it may be due to a bank/issuer restriction. These common decline responses usually require contacting your bank:
- 05 β Do Not Honor β The bank declined without a specific reason. Reach out to your bank.
- 07 β Pick Up Card (Special Condition) β The card is flagged as lost or stolen. Contact your bank immediately.
- 12 β Invalid Transaction β The entry or method used isnβt valid. Your bank can explain the issue.
- 41 β Lost Card, Pick Up (Fraudulent) β Reported as lost; the bank must resolve it.
- 43 β Stolen Card, Pick Up (Fraudulent) β Reported as stolen; contact your bank.
- 51 β Insufficient Funds β Not enough balance to complete the charge. Discuss options with your bank.
- 54 β Expired Card β The card is no longer valid; request a new one from your bank.
- 57 β Transaction Not Permitted to Cardholder β This type of charge is blocked for the cardholder. Ask your bank for details.
- 62 β Restricted Card β Limited by region or merchant type. Call your bank for clarification.
- 65 β Activity Limit Exceeded β The daily/transaction limit has been reached. Your bank may raise the limit.
- 91 β Issuer or Switch Inoperative β Temporary problem with the issuer or network. Your bank can confirm.
- 93 β Transaction Cannot Be Completed, Violation of Law β Legal or regulatory restriction. Contact your bank for guidance.
- N7 β Decline for CVV2 Failure β Security/CVV mismatch. Verify details with your bank.
- R0 or R1 β Stop Payment Order β The bank blocked it at the customerβs request. Confirm with your bank.
